Last spring my little sis and her hubby came out to the coast to visit – we decided to head up to Whistler for a little double date getaway, stopping at the new Sea to Sky Gondola on the way. The weather was amazing. A clear cloudless sky in spring anywhere around Vancouver is something to celebrate and making the trip up the mountain for a fairly exorbitant price was our way of celebrating!
The photos we got up on the top of the mountain are just awesome and worked out great with the Paper Issues February 2017 Sketchy Saturday Challenge. Here’s the Paper Issues sketch:
Now here is my take on the sketch using 2 of the great photos we took up top – one of me and the hubby (our usual, shameless travel selfie) and me in the middle of a pretty awesome suspension bridge. I am scared of heights so there is some adrenaline pumping in this photo!
For the layout I used some of the Amy Tangerine paper scraps I have been hoarding – seriously scraps. I had only one full sheet left of the paper and the rest was scraps and still I loved the pattern scheme so much that I forced it to work with the sketch! Then I threw on some Amy Tangerine embellishments, some random metal and dots from my stash, and topped it off with an Amy Tangerine puffy sticker Love and voila. It’s like icing on a cake when you have one of Amy’s puffy words left in your stash! All stuck down using my fav adhesive Tombow Mono Multi XL Liquid Glue and some glue dots.
I officially have nothing Amy Tangerine left in my stash and that is heart breaking but I think splitting with the last of my stash for this sketch challenge was well worth it.
Pop over to Paper Issues and see what their design team did with the sketch – Renee has an amazing layout with this cool white with geometric pattern (love it!). Oh and they have a whole host of other challenges every month. Come play!
