OK this Traveler’s Notebook (TN) thing is amazing – I am absolutely addicted!
Last month was my first foray into the TN world using my The Wild Hare Kits August Deluxe Kit to create a TN for a recent trip to Scotland. Creating a TN was so much fun and I loved how it turned out. Travelers Notebook with all things The Wild Hare Kits is my blog post that offers a video flip through of this first timer creation if you are interested.
With one TN complete all I can think about is creating more and more and more. In fact, I already have the photos and pages planned for 3 more! I am also now stalking all things TN on Instagram. I am ripe for ideas, inspiration, for designers who specialize in TNs, and for challenges. If you have been following our blog here at Scrapstorian for a while you know we love us some challenges!
Well, I found Wei Wei! She creates these most amazing TN layouts. Her style is so inspiring and I was on her Instagram feed and blog many times during my first TN creation for ideas and solutions. My personal Saved Collection on Instragam is full of her amazing projects. Oh and the icing on the TN cake, she also offers TN challenges!
The first TN Challenge I will be participating in is Wei Wei’s Traveler’s Notebook Monthly Challenge #8 Sketch:
I actually used this sketch challenge to kick off my next TN. This one will be all about my hike of Hadrian’s Wall Path in England back in 2008. I have not yet documented this trip and have been itching to put it to paper but my usual 12×12 format just didn’t feel like the solution – that is because I was clearly waiting for TNs.
Here is my take on the sketch challenge:
The TN Insert I am using is from the Repapered Shop by Cindy Backstrom of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and they are divine! The papers are smooth, absolute white and nothing leaks through to the page behind – not my liquid glue or my journalling pen. I am beyond impressed. Oh the smooth surface has made journalling so deliciously easy!
I am using the classic Midori sized TN at 4.5″ x 8.25″ which I think will work really well for documenting this hike. I did the hike alone so I have more words and ephemera to put down than pictures – I think the long page format will be perfect for my wordiness.
For the TN layout I used Pinkfresh Studio – Escape the Ordinary to create the tags and the coordinating fabric arrow. I added some washi from Crate Paper – Here + There; some phrase stickers from Pinkfresh Studio – Boys Fort; and Freckled Fawn – Script Puffy Stickers. I am really tempted to use Pinkfresh Studio – Escape the Ordinary for the entire TN. It is such a fabulous collection for something like a hiking trip, I love the colours and a fully coordinated TN would be quite fun to look back through. Hmmm we will see!
So excited to have TN challenges to participate in and love that I have Wei Wei’s inspiration to help me expand into this new layout format!
