The Pink Fresh Studio April 2018 Challenge is up on their blog. Wow, you should see what their design team has created based on the sketch and colour combination – beautiful! Here is a peek at the sketch / colour combination challenge:
The Pink Fresh team suggest the colour combination is perfect for their new Let Your Heart Decide collection – they were not kidding! Perfect!
The Let Your Heart Decide collection is of course in my stash – who could resist, the name of the collection brought me in and the look of it has me loving it even more than I imagined. Awesome die cuts (some with gold foil touches), great frames (with stitching), epoxy hearts, awesome pattern papers and more. Just wow. It had to be mine. Perfect timing too as this is the first time my local scrapbook store, Precious Memories is carrying Pink Fresh Studios. Lucky me! Looks like my past go-to distressed style has gone fresh and pink – love it!
The Pink Fresh Studio Design Team Member – Ashley Horton, had the most amazing take on the sketch. I started my layout with the same background paper she used and the same paper for my circles too – they were too perfect, I had to lift it. I just could not get her page out of my mind. Pop over to the Pink Fresh blog, you will know exactly what I mean.
Here is my take on the Pink Fresh Studio April Challenge / Ashley Horton take:
That’s my wee Grandma, isn’t she great? The Let Your Heart Decide collection had so many embellishments that trigger great memories of her- flowers for her garden and potted plants, stitching for all the sewing she did, hearts for that unconditional heart of hers. Such a great match. Heart you Grandma!
Here is a closer peek at these amazing embellies and the stitched frame:
Once everything was glued down I liked it but felt like I still needed a little something – but what? I took another peek at the sketch challenge image and voila – the splatters they have around the large shape (which I used the frame for) were the missing touch. Yes! I put a piece of scrap over the photo; mixed a bit too much water with some white matte Gesso; and flicked some off of a paint brush on to the page. Then I was happy.
Thanks so much Pink Fresh Studios for the great challenge and inspiration, and big thanks to Ashley for such an inspiring showcase of the patterned paper from the Let Your Heart Decide collection.
(I am also using this collection for a mini-album class I am teaching next month – it is all about using the phrases and titles from the ephemera pack as journal prompts to document your own story. Such a great collection!)
