A few years ago when my sister and I ventured to Scotland to hike the Great Glen Way, the world’s addiction to Candy Crush (app for smartphone and tablets) was at an all time high … and we were as addicted to those little candies and donuts as the next guy.
So addicted that we were passing our iPad back and forth on the train and when we got to our next lodging from a day of hiking to see if collectively we could beat Candy Crush – she got a life to try then I got a life to try and repeat kind of thing. Sometimes waiting not so patiently for our lives to reset when we has lost them all in a fiery crash and candy burn. Well, we didn’t beat Candy Crush (has anyone?) but it sure was fun trying and this game now stands out as a major memory of our awesome trip. So naturally it has to be documented in my Great Glen Way Scotland album!
The Stuck?! Sketches February 1-2018 Sketch Challenge popped into my Blog Lovin’ and Instagram feed the other day and voila our Candy Crush addiction pictures have a home.
Here is a look at the sketch from Stuck?!:
My local scrapbook store (Precious Memories in Langley, B.C.), has had the Echo Park Paper Co. – Just Be You Collection on display the last couple of times I was in there. Every time this collection called my name “Brande, over here, you know we would be besties.” Well … so .,. no surprise, I bought it of course and yahoo I am sure glad I did. The collection is perfect for Candy Crush memories.
Here is a look at my take on the Stuck?! Sketches February Sketch challenge:
Full disclosure – I do not use green. Nope, not ever. Not in home decorating, clothing, make up, cars, blogs, or scrapbooking. But once again this collection defeated my defenses. It had me pegged with its quiet “Brande, this green and only this green is perfect for you, come on you know you want to” so I used the green. A major ‘out of my comfort zone’ move! But I think it really worked with the large circle, pink layers and all the sticker and dot circles breaking up the green-ness.
The white splatter in the background is simply a little white Gesso mixed with a spritz pr two of water flicked onto the page with a little paintbrush. The white dots with a bit more dimension to them mixed in with the splatters I made with Ranger Ink Enamel Accents (white) to give it a little something extra.
All said and done, I am so glad this memory will be in our trip album and I love the collection as much it told me I would – even the green paper!
