We Love Cuts2luv

The three of us besties here at the Scrapstorian blog have hugely different scrapbook styles. Check out a post we did back in the early Scrapstorian days showcasing how differently each of us scrapbooked the same design team photo for a pretty clear example of how different we are, click here.

Seems though that no matter how different our styles are we are generally all drawn to very similar product; we just we just use it in very different ways. Seeing where I am going here?  We want to take advantage of our different styles to showcase the versatility of some of our favourite products and manufacturers or even just new products on the market we can’t resist trying!  We will include images of how we used the product and a review of the product itself.

So here we go …. Let’s kick this off with Cuts2luv.

I have been crushing on this small company over in Quebec, Canada now for a number of months. They specialize in badges (flair) and her collection is just amazing. She even did some custom ones for me that have our blog name Scrapstorian on them – hello cute! I am on Etsy all the time seeing what else she has come up with and follow her and her design team on Instagram for awesome inspiration.

The badges I selected for our product review and showcase is the Life Begins after Coffee set:

Here is how Cheryl used her coffee badges:

I’ll admit I wasn’t sure where to go with the coffee badges at first. Coffee is life fuel for most people, but I’ve been caffeine free for over eight years. (Decaf is sacrilege to some but I still love it.) Just because I drink the unleaded stuff doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it, of course, so I used this layout to list my current coffee favs.

I grabbed a few Instagram pics of my go to hot drinks – double double, Americano Blanco or homemade latte – and printed those in black and white. I added some coffee rings (Tim Holtz Collection Splatters Stencil) to the background and then started to layer. The teacup paper is Shimelle, True Stories Collection. It added lots of colour and allowed me to mix some red into the grey, brown and white scheme. The wood veneer coffee cups started out a little too bright for this page, so I toned them down with some brown ink. Although I mixed a lot of neutrals and a black and white photo, I think the page still feels bright and fun.

Now let’s see how Shar used her coffee badges:

Out of nowhere I got happy mail from my sister (Brande) with three precious coffee flairs from Cuts2luv and a challenge to create a layout using the flair!

I chose to use two of them for a picture of my sister Brande and I running in the early mornings in the Mayan Riviera. When we are together, I love to get up before everyone else and go for a run … we chat, we laugh, we debate, we confide, we just have a little time away with no sharesies. I always feel great from the run with my heart and soul replenished and the coffee never tastes better than on these special mornings no matter where in the world we are!

The You are Here collection from Simple Stories and a few old embellies from my stash mixed in really worked with the adorable flairs! I created a layout and a coordinating journal card too! My inspiration for the layout design was the November 15, 2017 Sketch Challenge from Stuck?! Sketches.

Ok now let’s see what I (Brande) did with these little coffee beauties:

Our family loves to make and give mugs as presents! As a result my husband and I have mostly only homemade in our cupboard! I live at least a province away from my family, so these homemade mugs make my morning coffee extra special. I have always wanted to document the mugs and who made which, and these Cuts2luv flairs gave me a great excuse to make that happen. They are perfect!

Starting with a Bazzill Cardstock Avalanche background, I deployed my go-to layout of a rectangle mid, top page with lots of paper layers and this time I focused on a teal and neutral / brown colour theme (Jillibean Soup, Soup Staples III Coordinating Paper ‘one way ticket’, Bazzill Cardstock Mysterious Teal)I used a big circle to draw attention to the main photo, which ironically shows my coffee cup on my scrapbook table, (it’s favourite place) in front of a mason jar of more Cuts2luv badges – not planned that’s just where they live ’cause they make me happy!

I added a small feature to the bottom of the page and then embellished with messy string, Tim Holtz Collection Splatters Stencil and Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grunge Stamps with Versa Magic Gingerbread and Bo Bunny Chocolate Pearlescents to create a spilled or dripped coffee look. The alphas are mix of Close to My Heart Keyboard Kraft Alpha, and American Crafts Thickers Campfire Alpha. The cork is Close to My Heart Color Ready Evergreen Cork Shapes.

I was so focused on pics and design that I didn’t leave room for journaling so deployed another go-to solution I use and added an attachable journal card to finish off the layout.

Well there you have it – three different ways to use the great product at Cuts2luv!

We love working with the product and cannot believe just how many wonderful badge designs she has – something for everyone, every event and every season! The team at Cuts2luv did not ask us to write this review or provide free product for the review; we just love their work and wanted to share that with you all! You can find her at Cuts2luv on Etsy, the Cuts2luv Blog or on Instagram @Cust2luv.

Thanks for visiting!
