I Love Our Moments

In January, our family had the opportunity to converge from across Canada and the USA to Las Vegas for a family vacation. We have collected here as family before for 4 to 5 days of fun. We know the city and sights well. So this time, we added visiting the Valley of Fire to our adventure. Wow, what a place!

I started scrapbooking our January experience in the Valley of Fire a few months ago, starting with a layout featuring me and the hubby. (Check out my blog post of August 25-2017 – Roaming the Valley of Fire to see this layout.) I am now continuing my memory keeping of the Valley of Fire with a layout featuring me, my sister and our mom.
I used the October 1, 2017 sketch challenge from Laura Whittaker over at Stuck?! Sketches for this layout. Ironically, I also used a Stuck?! Sketches sketch for the first page I did of the Valley back in August … ok lets be honest, a lot of my albums are based on Stuck?! Sketches!

Here is a peek at the Stuck Sketches?! October 1, 2017 sketch challenge: Now here is my layout:

As usual I had a lot to say about this day and experiencing it with my mom and sis. We don’t get to see each other too often, being a country or provinces apart, so every time we get to have a moment, I cherish it completely and wanted to make sure I wrote my feelings down. So I also added a journal card that I embellished to match the page. I will slide this into a small page protector which can adhere as a flap to the layout once it’s in a page protector and in the album.

I am thinking I will end up with a total of 4 layouts of the Valley of Fire and I want them to look great together when I get them in an album but I don’t want them to be identical in layout or collection. So I picked a design theme for my Valley pages: ‘black inspired background, with Southwestern Sante Fe touches, and a spattering of light teal when possible’. My plan is to use this as my colour and embellishment inspiration for each Valley of Fire page. This should create flow in the album but not twinsies.

I used this design idea on my first Valley of Fire layout back in August, and again with this sisters and mom layout and I think it’s working well! Here is a photo of my first layout from August and this newest layout beside each other. The layout of me and husband uses a lot of the We R Memory Keepers, Indian Summer collection, and this new layout uses just the 2 pattern pages I have left from the Prima Marketing, Cartographer Collection. Different collections, different sketches but I think they sit nicely together thanks to the design theme.
Thanks again Stuck?! Sketches for the inspiration and Valley of Fire for the amazing moments with my mom and my sis!
