I love the sketch challenge from Creative Scrappers this month!
I adore all the Project Life and pocket scrapbooking collections out there but I don’t pocket scrapbook. I still buy them, of course, but I use them in classic 12×12 scrapbooking, which is sometimes easy and sometimes really tough. Sketches like this month’s from Creative Scrappers makes the transition from a pocket collection to a classic scrap layout super easy!
Here is the Creative Scrappers May 2017 Sketch 306:
My approach to this sketch started with picking out a few of my recently printed stand-alone photos (where I only took or had one photo for an event or moment) and seeing which would go nicely with one of the retired Project Life collections I have on hand from Stampin’ Up. The bright colours of the collections went really well with the race track selfie of my sister, nephew and I so that pic is the winner. I put the other photos back in the photo box and started to play.
Here is a pic of the layout that resulted:
Here are some close ups of the various features on the page:
I wanted each of the cards to really pop off the American Crafts Textured White Cardstock background I picked so I backed each one in Bazzill Basics Cardstock Raven (black). Then I embellished with some circles cut from one of the Stampin’ Up! Project Life cards so they match, added some starbursts cut on my Cricut, added some enamel dots, little acetate bits from my stash and a really bold multi-colour and font title. All held together with the trusty stickiness of Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue.
I have added this May 2017 sketch from Creative Scrappers to my Go-To-Project-Life-Like Sketches in my Scrapbook Smashbook. It was just so easy to use I can see myself referring back to it often.
Thanks to you all over at Creative Scrappers!
