Adventure

A few years ago my sister Shar (fellow designer on this blog) and I travelled to Scotland to walk the Great Glen Way and then celebrate our success getting to know Edinburgh. For most of this trip we were either soggy and muddy or sweaty and dusty from the 20+ km on the trail every day, so when we spent our time in Edinburgh we were feeling more civilized than usual all clean and shiny.

The Cuts 2 Luv May 2017 sketch challenge is a perfect celebration for our shiny time in Edinburgh. The sketch is quite feminine and has a great colour palette with an awesome opportunity to pop some pink! A celebration of the feminine, shiny portion of our trip to Scots.

Here is the Cuts2Luv May 2017 Challenge:

Here is my take on the take on the Challenge:

I was able to happily capture 3 of the 4 challenge rules beyond using the actual sketch as well. I used water colour (the pink in the background) using my 13 Arts Ayeeda Paints, the word Always is captured in the saying “Always be your own kind of pretty” fitting for the pretty we were sporting for the days leading up to this, the photo is of me and my sis so satisfies the Photo: a girl or a woman rules. The only one I did not hit was the sequins and I could have but I had already paired the gold on the Cuts2Luv flair with some other gold embellishments and title and didn’t want to go overboard. Is there such a thing?
You have just got to take a closer look at the flair I used from Cuts2Luv – just so fabulous and so easy to incorporate that flair pop into every layout. I used the Cuts2Luv Metal Deer Golden and the Cuts2Luv Metal Dream Gold. I honestly don’t think I am able to do a page without it anymore – I am just loving that little something-something it adds to every page.

The rest of this layout is a total stash bust which I love. I feel like I am actually embracing my minimalist intentions for 2017 when I stash bust – now if I could just stop refilling the stash faster than I deplete it! Ha its only May I have lots of time to be minimalist still this year. Right?
I had a great pattern page left from my Clique Kits PLAY March 2017 Monthly Kit from American Crafts – Shimelle, Little by Little (background) a bunch of cards and such I believe are Maggie Holmes and/or Heidi Swapp combo (apologies if I am wrong), some bits of various gold paper scraps I put though my Sizzix Big Shot (clouds) or Punch (chevron). The title Adventure is a Heidi Swapp Foam Sticker and I have been saving it for something super special – ta da! I also used a random pink frame that matched from Simple Stories, Life in Colour. I love a good challenge and a stash bust combo!
Thanks for the sketch challenge Cuts2Luv!
