People we Love

Have you seen the April 15, 2017 Sketch and Mood Board Challenge from Let’s Get Sketchy? The sketch is a beauty and full of circle and the mood board is full of bright, happy colours. Basically the combo is totally right up my style alley. Thank you LGS!

Now here is the mood board:

After going through the design team’s takes on this challenge, I was totally inspired to create just a great, awesome mess of different circles as my background using a combo of bright fabulous colours. I also wanted to show a contrast of bright to dark so used a dark background on this and used some acetate photo overlays to create some of the circles to give some extra texture to my LO.

Using my long hoard, now retired Simple Stories Daily Grind collection, here is my take on the sketch and mood board challenge:

Here are a couple of close-ups so you can see how I piled circles and embellishments:

Another thing to mention is that I find journaling or telling the story of the pictures very important – this may actually by my most favourite part of scrapbooking. However, and I am sure I am preaching to the choir here, many times I find a big journal spot can take away from the look I was going for on a page.

To get around this … I have a whack load of Simple Stories Photo Flips on hand. I create little journal cards that match the page I am working on for these, add my story, and secure them to the page once it is in a binder. This way I get the look I want on a layout, can still tell the story and it looks pretty awesome in an album.
