Shimelle Weekly Challenge

Because I am working my way back from a scrapbooking break/rut/dry spell, I am sticking with what I know. (Okay, sure, I forced myself to do some pages with scraps and use some themed embellishments, but I am mostly taking it easy. 😉 )

What I know is this: there will always be something on Shimelle.com to inspire me. And I know layers. Lots of layers. (That might explain why I enjoy Shimelle’s style so much …)

The current challenge at Shimelle.com is to take inspiration from an autumnal page. The inspiration layout included a large photo close to the edge of the page – a perfect fit for this photo of my university class. Autumn is the season of back to school, after all, so why not take it way back and finally scrap this photo from (sigh) 15  years ago.

I built the layers in an L shape, above and to the left of the photo, and tried to have a few shots of yellow, blue and green in each layer. It was a quick and relatively easy page to complete. My only issue (and I use that term loosely) was the “Hello” card, which actually says, “Hello I love you.” I wanted that card to act as the beginning of my title, so I altered it with Sharpie paint pens and washi tape.
