Inked Fingers & Textured Layers

Well hello, Scrapbooking World! Feels so good to be back!

I am really excited to be scrapbooking! I have been out of touch for a while, LIFE outside the scrap room has been exciting and eventful! My heart is full and now my soul is leaping ‘cause my fingers are stained with spray and chalk and stuck together with Tombow glue!

So here is a little something I whipped up; these pictures are among the top ten of my all-time favs of my sons! These are from cuddles on the beach in 2010, during our holiday in Kelowna.

I started with two sheets of Bo Bunny’s Charcoal Chevron patterned paper. I wanted to play with some mixed media, so I started by embossing the Stampin’ Up! Off the Grid Background Stamp.

I added texture paste with Mr. Holt’s Stripes stencil, sprayed some serious layers – Heidi Swapp (love her work!) gold, some Tattered Angels and Mary Jane earth colours, complimented with a few sprays of Fireworks for the red effect! I even doodled in a few random off set circles and roughed up the edges.

When adding the pictures, I was only going to use a complimenting Bo Bunny Cream Graph, as seen here:

However, I just felt it was missing something. You know when you stand back and look and your page and think, “I like this, I like it a lot, but I don’t quite love it”?

I went back to my Bo Bunny stash and pulled out the red 12×12 Wild Cherry Chevron and BOOM! A little peek-a-boo of that pattern (distressed and inked) tipped the scale from like a lot to LOOOOVVVEEEE IIIIT!

Then the funner (yes, I am using this word and yes it should be in the dictionary. 😉 I have an ongoing debate with one of our boys about this word so had to use it in a post.) part starts, adding in all sorts of random but similar toned embellishments from all sorts of containers!

And I even added a little Stickles in Cooper Glitter, ’cause I bought it that day at The Scrap Yard and just had to use it! (Super cool store, you have got to stop in if you’re ever in Calgary or for those who are and never been, seriously, go. Their mixed media/art journal work is pretty super cool)

I finished the layout off with my title bar – (journaling to be added later)

And here is the final work:
