An Inspired Journey

Are you following the challenges and posts over at Shimelle.com today? She’s hosting an online crop with challenges, videos and guests. (*cough*cough – check this out – *cough*cough)

Today’s first challenge is a warm up; chose any of the previous weekly challenges as inspiration for your layout. Since I have been attempting a layout based on the maps and globes challenge all week, it seemed like a good time to finish.

I started this page with a Studio Calico map paper (from a kit from last year, sorry I don’t know which one). It’s one of those papers that I put away immediately because I knew it would be hard for me to use. I don’t do a lot of travel layouts (that’s Brande’s department, lol) so maps are not a motif gravitate towards. I have added and removed and added and cut and changed elements of this layout for the last five days. For real.

When I came to it with fresh(er) eyes this morning, I chose a new background, added some black, changed a few photo mat layers and went totally overboard with Fancy Pants embellies.

Somewhere in the midst of the rearranging, I realized that maps make me think of journeys, personal or otherwise. One journey that has bumps and twists and turns and breaks and successes – you get the idea – is my fitness journey. I need to constantly remind myself that fit is not something you get to, it is something you live and feel.

I may need to stick this page to my mirror. 😉

Even though I went crazy with the embellishments (and words and the layers), I do like the layout. I like using pages in my albums to record life lessons and advice that is important to me. I don’t travel much but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many journeys.

  2. Cheryl – I was poking about the blog looking at older posts and came across this one that I think I missed when it went up. I absolutely LOVE this page and the story that it tells. Wow and Wow!
