Week in the Life™ Album Prep

Hello scrappy friends! For the first time, I am going to participate in Ali Edwards’ Week in the Life™. She describes WiTL as, “an annual opportunity to capture the simple everyday details of life with photos and words.” Brilliant, right?! Many of my scrapbook pages are about the little moments that I want to remember. Why not try WiTL as a way to capture our routine, our habits, our likes and dislikes?

I’ve had this Donna Downey for Prima canvas album sitting in my scraproom, waiting for a project to come along. (I have the 7×9 size. I know it’s discontinued, do not ask me how long I’ve had it.) The album comes with five page protectors and five canvas pages. Since I wanted to plan for two pages per day, I added in some paper pages.

My paper choices started with the Paint Palette collection from Me and My Big Ideas; that determined the colour palette. From there, I added Amy Tangerine Plus One, Pink Paislee Colour Wash and some Studio Calico Print Shop.

I like the idea of day dividers in the WiTL kit, and wanted to try something similar. My initial idea was to use the canvas pages, but I needed seven and the album has five. I decided to cut 4×10 dividers from Ranger watercolour paper and mist them. I think the watercolour, painted, sketchy feel is definitely the theme of this album.

You can see above the dividers that I left the letters in while I misted each piece, so I now have a letter for each day of the week that matches my colour scheme. Mists used above are Tim Holtz Distress Spray in Tumbled Glass, Mister Huey in Taxi, Heidi Swapp Colour Shine Citron and Black Velvet, Recollections Simply Pastel in Pink and Turquoise.

I filmed a quick flip through the album, so you can get a feel for how it’s coming together.
