Cherish – Sketch Challenge

You know those pictures you have that really mean a lot to you, and you feel quite a bit of pressure to scrapbook them absolutely perfectly … and there is so much pressure to do so that you don’t ever actually end up scrapping them? Well this is one of those pictures BUT I finally found the sketch that would showcase the love I have for this picture – thank you Sketchabilities!

Here is the Sketchabilities 124 sketch:

Here is my take on the Sketchabilities sketch with my super-special picture:

Supplies: My Tattered Angels Plain Jane Simply Sheer Matte Mist (almost black); Page Craft Ink Pad (magenta); Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Pumice Stone); Memory Box (roman clock stamp); Tsukineko Versa Magic Multi Surface Chalk Ink (Midnight Black); Creative Memories Black Pen; Close to My Heart Waxy Flax (Black); Bo Bunny Blossoms (Plum Purple Daisy); Stampin’ Up! – Gorgeous Grunge Stamps; Stampin’ Up! Hexagon Punch; American Crafts Textured Cardstock (Black); Bo Bunny Vintage Double Dot (shadow vintage); Making Memories Tiny Alphas – White on Black; American Crafts Amy Tangerine Thickers – Twins (black); Crate Paper Pink Plum; Heidi Swapp Specialty Cardstock from her Michael’s Craft Store Line; and Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue

Sometimes I like to hide my journaling. Every page I create has journaling, it is my favourite part of each layout and I think one of the most important things that we as scrapbookers do. However, sometimes I get so caught up into the layout that I don’t realize I have not made room for journaling until it is too late. When that happens, I simply tuck my journaling. I have a special stamp (the little key) that I use whenever I tuck journaling too.

Here is a close up of the journal tab I tucked on this layout:

Another thing to mention is my love for the Stampin’ Up! – Gorgeous Grunge Stamps. This set is so amazingly versatile and a must have when creating an ‘organized mess’ for your background paper (which I seem to be doing a lot lately). On this layout, I misted on some My Tattered Angels Plain Jane Simply Sheer Matte Mist (almost black) on the page, and then augmented it with some bright pink Page Craft Ink Pad (magenta) splotches by using the Stampin’ Up! – Gorgeous Grunge Stamps so I could place them exactly where I want but still have it look ‘messy’.

  1. I’m so glad Sketchabilities was able to help you out with inspiration for this photo – and a great photo it is! I love the grungy background too. Thanks for playing along 🙂
