Hey all! Check out three takes on Sketchabilities #108.
First peek at this sketch and I was really excited about the whimsical nature of the banner. I tossed around some events that included my young siblings, thinking to play on the banner idea. However, after a second look at the sketch the heart caught my eye and I knew this was another ‘engagement photo’ layout if I ever saw one.
Supplies: American Crafts Textured Cardstock Smooth (white), Recollections Adhesive Rhinestones, Close to My Heart Waxy Flax (black), Heidi Swapp Stickers (word Us), Artico Water Color Paint (black), various washi tape, pink scrap of paper and some hardware embellishments from my inventory
I knew I was mixing a sketch and supplies that didn’t really “go”. Style wise, the two were very different. I wanted to use a fun, whimsical kit with a more artsy, grungy sketch. (The sketch is amazing, just to be clear. My choice of supplies just went off course!) I am still happy with the end result, even if I did have to walk away for a day to be able to say that. 😉 Sadly, though, I have to let you all know I was disappointed in the Pink Paislee kit I used. The transparent stickers ripped as I tried to remove them from the sheet, the papers felt sort of thin and I the one die cut paper I was hoping for wasn’t in the kit. (That part is my fault for not reading the description, though, can’t blame them for that!) But it is a fun collection and I used a ton of it here!
Supplies: Pink Paislee Hey Kid Kre8v Kit, VersaMagic ink, My Mind’s Eye paper, EK Success Circle Punch
Well what a SUPER FUN sketch… you guys rock! I had the perfect trio of pics for this LO! Using a 12×12 patterned sheet from the Flora Festival pad by Recollections, several brush strokes of Stampin’ Up! paint (with a few splatters for show), using black StazOn ink and a random store bought stamp, a few sprays of Goosebumps Textured Glitter and a half circle of another pattern from the same pad and my LO was off to a great start!
With the brilliant mixture of colours both in the photos and the background, I did not think matting was necessary… I ended up choosing to use some black wire and some random clips which I believe were from an older SU! embellishment set to hang the photos. I added some of the small CTMH sparkles to the clips to dress them up and Heidi Swapp hearts to match the larger one below! (HS hearts were colored using HS sprays and chalking ink from random companies.)
To finish, I used a few Queen&Co pearls, smaller HS hearts and CTMH Sparkles to finished off the flow of the page…which played well with my son’s adoration seen in the photos! The best part of the LO is how choosing this brilliantly dark purple background kept the LO from being overly “girly” though all the embellishments were quite feminine! I was thrilled with the turn out! Thanks Sketchabilities! Bring on #109!!
I have got to say I LOVE this sketch!! Funny how sometimes it just pops out to you eh! The LO’s are great!
