Have we talked about how much I love the Two Peas in a Bucket weekly videos? No? Are you sure? I love them all and watch every day, or as close to every day as I can. This week, I tackled two layouts based on ideas from Two Peas Garden Girls.
The first idea came from this 213 in 2013 video. Shannon Tidwell cut out small sections of a wood grain paper and attached patterns behind it; I loved this so much I copied it almost exactly!
Supplies: Echo Park paper and stickers, Webster’s Pages paper and transparencies
I loved all the patterns so much, I chose to cluster the photo and the embellishments on the bottom of the page. I added messy lines around each element in the embellishment to bring in more blue from the background and layered up some stickers and bits and pieces until it felt done.
My second challenge was based on Glitter Girl episode 99: Read Between the Twine. I sound all fangirl-ish when I talk about Glitter Girl* and her alter-ego Shimelle Laine, but she’s kinda my scrappy hero. 🙂
Supplies: Glitz Designs paper, Project Life paper, My Mind’s Eye twine
I wanted to create a twine shape to fill most of the page, so I went for a polaroid inspired shape. I knew the photo wouldn’t fill the entire space on top, and that’s okay. (More room for layers!) I tucked my journaling (man, my kiddo is growing up!) behind the photo. It’s a simple page but after trying several times to add things that didn’t work, I knew it was time to stop.
I’d like to try this with a twine star, circle or even heart. I’ll keep you posted on that!
* Here’s the fangirl moment: On her 100th episode, GG answered my question! So fun. I asked on the Two Peas message board how people settled into their scrappy styles. The video is great, definitely check it out. And tell me how you found your style!
Ok absolutely love the wood grain with pattern behind – makes me so happy! Awesome idea Shannon Tidwell @ Two Peas, and thanks for sharing your inspired-by lay out Cheryl. I already have a page in mind to try it myself!
Awesome! Can’t wait to see.
