Winter White

I’m not sure if it’s appropriate or ironic that I am posting an all white layout with a fresh blanket of snow all around … I think we got about 15 cm in some parts of the city. It looks lovely, from far away πŸ˜‰

Anyway, here’s the story: The lovely and uber-talented Michelle Marks posted a gorgeous monochromatic layout in a Facebook group and challenged the rest of us to tackle it as well. I am not sure there is anything harder for me than monochromatic. I looooove colour, lots of colour and lots of pattern. This was definitely outside the box.

Supplies
Paper: Creative Memories, Recollections
Buttons and Doilies: Stampin’ Up!
Stickers: American Crafts, Pink Paislee
Glitter tape: American Crafts

I started with a white embossed cardstock from Creative Memories. I knew I wanted something super-bright-white to mat the photos, so I actually used a piece of packaging from Stampin’ Up!, I think. After that, I just played with more white layers to see what I liked.

I threaded the clear buttons with white crochet twine and topped two with SU pearls. (Anyone have a trick for adhering those? I was out of mini glue dots and even Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium didn’t stick incredibly well. Glossy Accents, maybe?)

I may owe a slight apology for the Pink Paislee snowflakes; I didn’t realize they had a hint of blue until they were stuck down. 😦 I think Michelle has forgiven me! The title was the easiest part of the page. We had been doing “penguin slides” on the hill and I actually said, “Everybody say penguin!” when I took the pictures.

As different as this was for me, it was fun and I am happy with the page. At least it takes the guesswork out of matching papers!

  1. This is fantastic, Cheryl! Thanks for telling the story behind the title…a really cute idea! And now I’m thinking about a white on white as well….you and MIchelle and company are an inspiration!
